From just 700 megawatts in 2005, the state’s electricity demand has soared to 8428 megawatts in 2025. This surge reflects better infrastructure, improved rural electrification, and the growing energy needs of a developing population.
In a major relief to consumers across Bihar, the Bihar Electricity Regulatory Commission (BERC) has revised its earlier decision regarding electricity connection charges. Now, residents applying for a new connection will no longer have to pay for the installation of electric poles and wires. Patna is set to rewrite its skyline with the launch of Bihar’s tallest building — Venus Capital Heights. This upcoming skyscraper will be 120 meters (394 feet) tall, with a total of 34 floors. It will surpass the current tallest structure, the Biscomaun Tower, by nearly 50 meters.
The high-rise will be constructed in Sandalpur, located in the southwest region of Patna. The project has already received approval from Bihar Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA).
